# 10 Drug Promo Violation Letters in 2019

The CDER Office of Prescription Drug Promotion (OPDP) issued 10 enforcement letters in 2019 addressing communications carried in 11 different communications vehicles. *Eye on FDA* [reports](http://eyeonfda.com/2020/01/an-overview-of-fda-opdp-enforcement-for-2019/?ref=fdaweb.com) that violations were nearly evenly divided between digital communication vehicles (five violations) and traditional vehicles (six violations).

Other findings in the analysis: 

- no single treatment area dominated enforcement;
- enforcement was generally aimed at smaller, less well-known companies;
- more untitled letters (seven) than Warning Letters (three); and
- 21 total violations cited in the 10 letters.

The most common violation cited was the inclusion of risk information. Others were making a superiority claim, making an unsubstantiated claim, unapproved use, and promotion of an unapproved drug.
