2 Verapamil Drugs Not Withdrawn Due to Safety/Efficacy: FDA

Federal Register notice: FDA has determined that Adams Technologies’ Isoptin (verapamil hydrochloride) tablets (40mg, (XXX INSEDRT SPACE AFTER COMMA XXX)80mg and 120mg) and Pfizer’s Calan (verapamil hydrochloride) tablets (40mg, 80mg, 120mg and 160mg) were not withdrawn due to safety or effectiveness reasons. The determinations permit FDA to approve ANDAs referencing either product if all other legal and regulatory requirements are met. Both products are indicated for treating angina, arrythmias, and essential hypertension. To view the notice, click here.
