23andMe Colorectal Cancer Report Cleared

FDA has cleared a 23andMe 510(k) for the MUTYH-Associated Polyposis report, a genetic health risk report on a hereditary colorectal cancer syndrome. The report follows a 3/18 clearance for the company’s BRCA1/BRCA2 (Selected Variants) Genetic Health Risk report on the same ancestry and health service platform. Customers using the platform will have to choose whether or not they want to receive the colorectal cancer report, and like other 23andMe genetic health risk reports, the new one will include an education module to help customers understand what they can learn from it, according to the company.
