3 Charged in Fake Prescription Drug Lab Case

The FDA Office of Criminal Investigations and the Justice Department say that three Chipley, FL, residents have been arrested for their involvement in a steroid and fake prescription pill lab. The three had been indicted by a federal grand jury in August for conspiracy to import, manufacture, and distribute anabolic steroids and fake prescription drugs across the U.S.

Court documents indicate that United States postal inspectors determined that large amounts of steroid and fake prescription drug ingredients were being shipped from China to various locations in south Alabama and north Florida. It is alleged that the three defendants were using the raw materials and two large-scale presses to mass produce pills in an illegal drug lab near Chipley.

Law enforcement officials reportedly found a large amount of steroids in the lab in the form of vials, finished pills, and raw powder. Also discovered were drugs falsely labeled as Viagra, Cialis, Accutane, and Clomid.

If convicted, the three each face a maximum prison sentence of 15 years plus significant fines and restitution.
