3 Notices on Animal Minor Use/Major Species

Federal Register notices: FDA has published three notices about its most recent periodic reassessment of the definition of ‘‘small number of animals’’ for minor use in major species. One notice announces that the small number of animals upper limit thresholds for horses and the food-producing major species (cattle, pigs, turkeys, and chickens) will remain the same. The other two notices are a direct final rule and a companion proposed rule that increase the small numbers for dogs and cats — from 70,000 to 80,000 for dogs and from 120,000 to 150,000 for cats.
