4 Ways to Improve FDA

Former CDRH senior executive Jonathan Bernstein describes in a Linkedin post his four-step plan for improving FDA, and especially the Center where he worked. His recommendations are:

find the innovators within the agency, insulate them from bureaucracy, legitimize their work, and empower these teams;
reorganize reviewer assignments to align their skills with the needs of innovators/innovations;
Congress should complete its MDUFA commitment by fixing the processes necessary for new medical devices to be reimbursed; and
for new programs, CDRH should use a “pick the winner” strategy for continued funding.
