7 Observations in Natco Pharma FDA-483
FDA has released the form FDA-483 issued following a 6/9-6/19 inspection at Natco Pharma Limited, a Rangareddy, Telangana, India, sterile and non-sterile drug manufacturer. The seven inspection observations were:
- aseptic processing areas are deficient regarding the system for monitoring environmental conditions;
- failure to maintain equipment and utensils at appropriate intervals to prevent contamination that would alter the safety, identity, strength, quality, or purity of the drug product;
- procedures designed to prevent microbiological contamination of drug products purporting to be sterile did not include adequate validation of the aseptic process;
- failure to thoroughly review any unexplained discrepancy and the failure of a batch or any of its components to meet any of its specifications, whether or not the batch has already been distributed;
- failure to establish, write, and follow procedures designed to prevent microbiological contamination of drug products purporting to be sterile;
- buildings used in the manufacture, processing, packing, or holding of a drug product do not have the suitable construction to facilitate cleaning, maintenance, and proper operation; and
- failure to have in writing and fully follow the responsibilities and procedures applicable to the quality control unit.
