7D Surgical Image-guided Spine Surgery System Cleared

FDA has cleared a 7D Surgical 510(k) for its Machine-vision Image Guided Surgery system for spine surgery. The company says the device uses “3D optical technologies and machine vision algorithms to eliminate the long-standing barriers to adoption of existing surgical navigational platforms. This new technology can easily register spinal surgery patients automatically using only visible light.” The system enables “Flash Registration” of a patient’s anatomy in less than 20 seconds for de novo spinal registration, compared with 30 minutes for conventional image guided surgery systems, it says.
