Abbott PMA for GLP Systems Track

FDA has approved an Abbott PMA for its automated GLP systems Track, which is intended to support high-volume laboratory needs and maximize productivity. The device features an “intelligent self-propelled single sample carrier – called CAR,” according to the company. “Samples move independently, not attached to rigid, fixed mechanized track systems. This reduces mechanical failures that can stop the entire system, guaranteeing the continuity of the operation and the flexibility to change when the laboratory requires it.”

Depending on the care setting, Abbott says the device’s automation system can handle up to 25,000 test tubes each day to provide improved turnaround time for patient test results. It also can help reduce operational costs and eliminate manual errors.
