# Accuray’s VitalHold for Breast Cancer Cleared

FDA has cleared an Accuray 510(k) for its VitalHold breast cancer package and its use on the company’s [Radixact](https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&l=en&o=3938573-1&h=2551099497&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.accuray.com%2Fradixact%2F&a=Radixact&ref=fdaweb.com) radiation therapy system. VitalHold allows “deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) treatments” using Radixact’s fixed beam angle delivery mode (TomoDirect) and a fully integrated and automated surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) solution, the company says.

Accuray says DIBH treatments are often used to reduce radiation dose to organs at risk and minimize associated complications later in life. “During treatment, a patient takes a deep breath which moves the heart away from the chest wall and the targeted tumor,” it says. “The SGRT tracking system continuously monitors a patient’s breathing and position with cameras to confirm the patient is appropriately positioned to deliver radiation. SGRT is designed to enable medical care teams to effectively position the patient and confidently monitor the accuracy of that positioning throughout treatment.”
