# AdvaMed Recommendations for Patient Preference

AdvaMed says it agrees with five questions FDA proposes adding to a proposed future revision of a guidance on voluntary submission of patient preference information (PPI) in PMAs, HDEs, and *de novo* requests. The association’s comment [letter](https://downloads.regulations.gov/FDA-2015-D-1580-0029/attachment%5F1.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) also recommends adding an additional question about the characteristics of the respondents to a PPI study. Other elements in the AdvaMed response cover the addition of PPI references; the need for balance between valid PPI data, patient burden, and development time; communication with FDA and timing; and line-by-line specific topics.
