# AdvaMed Recommendations on Consensus Standards

AdvaMed is making several recommendations to FDA in response to the agency’s public workshop on the appropriate use of consensus standards. The advocacy organization [recommends](https://downloads.regulations.gov/FDA-2022-N-2781-0002/attachment%5F1.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) that FDA:

- issue a clear policy statement of a default three-year transition period for standards;
- establish an e-mail list serve to notify subscribers of any updates to the FDA standards database;
- provide additional information in the Supplementary Information Sheet (SIS) for partially recognized standards;
- include historical information about the standard in the SIS; and
- consider revising the language of the Declaration of Conformity (DOC) attestation and provide training on the appropriate use of DOCs.
