Aidoc AI Stroke Detection Module Cleared

FDA has cleared an Aidoc 510(k) for its artificial intelligence (AI) component for flagging large-vessel occlusion in head computed tomography angiography scans. The latest AI module joins a previous cleared module for flagging and prioritizing intracranial hemorrhage to provide a comprehensive AI package for identifying and triaging both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in computed tomography scans, the company says.

Aidoc’s AI modules continuously scan images and automatically move suspected cases to the top of radiologists’ worklists, the company says. Research performed by the University of Rochester Medical Center showed Aidoc’s ability to reduce turnaround time for emergency room patients with intracranial hemorrhage by 36.6%, it says.
