FDA has approved an Akorn ANDA for a generic copy of Meda Pharmaceuticals’ Astelin (azelastine hydrochloride) nasal spray, 0.1%, indicated for treating symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and pediatric patients aged five years and older, and for treating symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis in adults and adolescent patients 12 years and older. U.S. annual sales of azelastine hydrochloride nasal spray, 0.1% are about $46 million, according to the company.
