All Drugs Approved in 2020 Met User Fee Goals: FDA

FDA says that all 53 new molecular entity approvals (see earlier story) in 2020 were acted on by or before their user fee goal dates, and most were approved in the U.S. before any other country in the world. In a 1/8 annual approvals report, the agency says that 92% (49 of 53) of novel approvals were issued on the first cycle. And 68% of novel drug approvals (36 of 53) used one or more expedited programs (fast track, breakthrough designation, priority review designation, and accelerated approval) that allowed new therapies to be brought to patients months, or even years, sooner than expected, the report says.
