American Regent Production Supervisor Sentenced

The Justice Department and FDA Office of Criminal Investigations say Gregory Settino, production supervisor of manufacturing at American Regent, formerly Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, has been sentenced to one year and one day in prison for theft of some $750,000 worth of medical products. Settino also was ordered to pay restitution of $847,093.

A department statement says Settino stole Adequan, an injectable equine drug manufactured at the facility that is indicated to treat degenerative drug disease in horses. Over eight years, the department says, Settino stole thousands of bottles of Aquedan and sold them for hundreds of thousands of dollars to trainers and veterinarians at New York race tracks.
