Amneal BLA for Avastin Biosimilar Approved

FDA has approved an Amneal Pharmaceuticals BLA for bevacizumab-maly, a biosimilar referencing Genentech’s Avastin. The product will be marketed under the proprietary name Alymsys. The therapy was developed by mAbxience, a global biotech company claiming over 10 years of experience in developing and manufacturing biopharmaceuticals. The biosimilar is approved for the following indications: (1) treating patients with metastatic colorectal cancer in combination with fluorouracil-based chemotherapy, (2) first-line treatment for patients with non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer, (3) recurrent glioblastoma, (4) metastatic renal cell carcinoma in combination with interferon alfa and, (5) persistent, recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer.
