Amphastar ANDA Approved for Generic Lovenox Vials

FDA has approved an Amphastar Pharmaceuticals ANDA for blood thinner enoxaparin sodium injection 300mg/3mL (100mg/mL) multiple dose vials, a generic copy of Sanofi-Aventis’ Lovenox. Amphastar also manufactures and distributes enoxaparin sodium injection in prefilled syringes. Enoxaparin sodium is used to treat and prevent deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism including during pregnancy and following certain types of surgery. It is also used in those with acute coronary syndrome and heart attacks. Annual sales are estimated to be $11 million, according to the company.
