Applied BioCode Gastro Pathogen Panel Cleared

FDA has cleared an Applied BioCode 510(k) for its BioCode Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel and its use with the high throughput BioCode MDx-3000 molecular system. The panel tests for 17 most common bacteria, viruses, and parasites that cause infectious diarrhea, according to the company. The clearance is based on data from a clinical study that included more than 1,558 prospective samples, archived positives and contrived samples. The molecular testing system is designed for use by large hospitals and reference laboratories. The system automates the test amplification, hybridization/target capture, and detection steps of molecular diagnostic testing, the company says.
