Ascendis Hypoparathyroidism Drug Approved

FDA has approved an Ascendis Pharma NDA for Yorvipath (palopegteriparatide) for treating hypoparathyroidism in adults. The rare endocrine disease is caused by insufficient levels of parathyroid hormone that can impact multiple organs. Approval was based on data from the global Phase 2 PaTH Forward and Phase 3 PaTHway trials, according to Ascendis.

Yorvipath is described as a once-daily prodrug of parathyroid hormone (PTH[1-34]). It is designed to provide continuous exposure to released PTH over the 24-hour dosing period, the company says.
