Athena Bioscience Pain Drug Approved

FDA has approved an Athena Bioscience NDA for Qdolo (tramadol hydrochloride) oral solution 5mg/1ml, an opioid agonist indicated in adults for managing pain severe enough to require an opioid analgesic and for which alternative treatments are inadequate. Tramadol in solid oral dosage forms has been marketed widely for over 50 years for severe pain. The oral liquid was developed to give physicians flexibility to titrate dosing precisely according to individual patients’ needs, the company says. Additionally, it is intended for patients who have trouble swallowing pills, Athena says.
