Avet Pharma Recalls Tetracycline HCl Capsules

Avet Pharmaceuticals has recalled several lots of tetracycline HCl capsules, 250 mg and 500 mg, 100-count bottles due to low out-of-specification dissolution test results. Low dissolution results in less tetracycline available in the body to fight infection, which can lead to treatment failures, a recall notice says. To date, Avet says it has not received any adverse event reports or complaints related to the low dissolution. The drug is indicated for treating infections caused by susceptible strains of designated organisms, including upper and lower respiratory tract infections and skin and soft tissues infections.
