AZ, Merck Working Together on Lynparza

AstraZeneca and Merck say they have entered a global strategic oncology collaboration to co-develop and co-commercialize AstraZeneca’s Lynparza (olaparib) for multiple cancer types. A joint announcement says that Lynparza is an innovative, first-in-class oral poly ADP ribose polymerase inhibitor currently approved for BRCA-mutated ovarian cancer in multiple lines of treatment. There are 14 indications being developed across several tumor types, the companies say, including breast, prostate, and pancreatic cancer. The statement says the collaboration is expected to increase the number of treatment options available to patients.

The companies are to develop and commercialize Lynparza jointly, both as monotherapy and in combination with other potential medicines.
