# Baxter Recalls 1 Lot of Sodium Chloride Rinsing Solution

> Baxter International has recalled one lot of 0.9% sodium chloride irrigation, USP, 500 mL plastic pour bottle solution after a report was received that an insect was in the solution. Such foreign material contamination “potentially could result in a series of complications dependent in which anatomic location the irrigation is used, which could include inflammatory reaction, foreign body reaction, and infection which could be life-threatening,” a recall notice says. To date, the company says it has not received any adverse event reports related to the affected lot.

> The solution is used to rinse debris and residue from wounds, and to rinse/irrigate during surgical procedures, Baxter says. It may also be used to flush or rinse medical equipment such as catheters.
