BD Recalls BD Alaris Pump Software

Becton Dickinson has recalled (Class 1 device correction) its BD Alaris Pump Module Model 8100 with Guardrails, Suite MX software versions, because the infusion sets may perform outside the established performance ranges for flow rate and bolus accuracy, downstream and upstream occlusion time to alarm, and post-occlusion bolos volume. The company notified customers last month that the devices can continue to be used as intended, according to a recall notice. It also referred them to “mitigations” referenced in the letter, such as new set performance data as compared to the existing data found in product user manuals.
