BelGene Gastric Cancer Drug Trial Hits Primary Endpoint

BelGene says the results of the Phase 3 RATIONALE 305 trial of tislelizumab with chemotherapy met its primary endpoint of overall survival compared with chemotherapy alone in patients with advanced unresectable or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma, regardless of PD-L1 status. A company statement says no new safety signals were identified for the drug.

The company says tislelizumab is under review by FDA for advanced or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma after prior chemotherapy. The drug is described as a humanized IgG4 anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody specifically designed to minimize binding to Fc-gamma receptors on macrophages.
