# BMS Settles HIV Medication Suit for $10.8 Million

A California federal judge has approved a $10.8 million settlement between Bristol-Myers Squibb and direct buyers of HIV medication who claimed the company engaged in anti-competitive conduct to block generic competition and artificially inflate medication prices. The case involves KPH, a retail and online pharmacy operator, that sued Gilead and BMS in 10/2020, accusing the companies of colluding to monopolize the market for drugs commonly used to treat HIV and forcing direct buyers to overpay for the medications as a result.
