Breakthrough Status for SeQuent Please Balloon Catheter

FDA has granted B. Braun Interventional Systems a breakthrough device designation for the SeQuent Please ReX drug-coated percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty balloon catheter for treating coronary in-stent restenosis. SeQuent is the latest generation coronary drug-coated balloon catheter developed by B. Braun. The company says the designation is based on data from 10 years of clinical study evaluations. “These studies have evaluated use of the catheters in a variety of indications, including in-stent restenosis for bare metal stents and drug-eluting stents, as well as for initial stenosis detected in de novo lesions,” it says.
