# Cabaletta Wins Fast Track for CAAR T-cell

FDA has granted Cabaletta Bio fast track status for DSG3-CAART (Desmoglein 3 Chimeric Auto-Antibody Receptor T cells) for treating mucosal pemphigus vulgaris (mPV). The therapy is designed for improving healing of mucosal blisters in patients with mPV, the company says. It targets B cells that express pathogenic autoantibodies directed against the DSG3 protein, Cabaletta says, while preserving normal B cell immune function. A Phase 1 trial called DesCAARTes is being planned for later this year in relapsed and refractory patients.

PV is a rare autoimmune blistering disease that is characterized by the loss of adhesion between cells of the skin or mucous membranes, Cabaletta says. It is caused by the production of autoantibodies that disrupt structural proteins within the skin and mucosa that connect with other proteins to enable the skin or mucosal cells to connect with each other.
