# California ‘Pay-for-Delay’ Settlements

California attorney general **Xavier Becerra** says he has reached four settlement agreements with drug companies who entered into “pay-for-delay” agreements to delay lower-priced prescription drugs from entering the market. The [settlements](https://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/attorney-general-becerra-secures-nearly-70-million-against-several-drug?ref=fdaweb.com) will result in the companies making payments of nearly $70 million to the state, he says. Included is the largest pay-for-delay settlement received by any state. The settlements also are the only ones to secure injunctive relief for a state against future pay-for-delay agreements.

The settlements are with Teva for its Provigil and with Teva, Endo, and Teikoku for their Lidoderm.
