Canine Librela Adverse Events Analyzed: CVM

The FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) says its evaluation of adverse events reported in dogs of various ages treated with Zoetis’ Librela (bedinvetmab injection) found ataxia; seizures; other neurologic signs including paresis, recumbency, urinary incontinence, polyuria, and polydipsia. A CVM statement says Librela, a monoclonal antibody drug used to control pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs, was approved on 5/5/2023.

The statement says that before the agency approved the drug, it reviewed available studies and other data on Librela and determined it was safe and effective for its intended use. Librela is dosed by weight and labeled for subcutaneous injection once a month, FDA says.
