Canon Liver Analysis Tools Cleared on Aplio Ultrasound

FDA has cleared a Canon Medical Systems USA 510(k) for a suite of quantitative tools to assess the spectrum of liver disease (including steatosis, inflammation and cirrhosis) on the company’s Aplio i800 ultrasound system. In addition to Shear Wave Elastography imaging, the new suite adds Attenuation Imaging and Shear Wave Dispersion, two features that Canon says allow health care providers to visualize and quantify liver tissue attenuation and dispersion slope, which is a property related to tissue viscosity. In addition to the liver analysis suite, the agency cleared a wider range of transducers.
