Carestream 510(k) for 3D Extremity Scanner

Carestream Health has filed a 510(k) application seeking clearance for its Carestream OnSight 3D Extremity System that uses cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) technology to capture weight-bearing and other types of patient extremity images. The device is designed to offer high-quality, low-dose 3D imaging for use by orthopedic and sports medicine practices, hospitals, imaging centers, urgent care facilities and other healthcare providers, according to the company. It also features three x-ray sources to “reduce cone beam artifacts and improve the overall field of view to capture the full anatomy of interest in a single scan.”
