# CBER Changes Organizational Structure

CBER says it has undergone an internal restructuring as of 10/16 intended to allow it to more efficiently accomplish its regulatory mission. The new structure includes an Office of Blood Research and Review, an Office of Vaccines Research and Review, and an Office of Tissues and Advanced Therapies (formerly the Office of Cellular, Tissue, and Gene Therapies). A Center [notice](http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/CentersOffices/OfficeofMedicalProductsandTobacco/CBER/ucm525907.htm?ref=fdaweb.com) says the Division of Hematology Clinical Review was moved from the Office of Blood Research and Review to become part of the Office of Tissues and Advanced Therapies. Products regulated by that office include all purified and recombinant versions of therapeutic proteins for hematology. Antivenins also have been transferred to that office, the notice says.

CBER says the restructuring should not have a significant impact on the review of pending applications, and the Center anticipates meetings its user fee obligations, including performance goals, during the transition.
