# CBS Profiles Furloughed FDA Food Inspector

A CBS Morning News 1/22 [report](https://www.cbsnews.com/video/missing-colorado-moms-friend-says-kelsey-berreth-couldnt-win-with-patrick-frazee/?ref=fdaweb.com) on the government shutdown included a profile on an Illinois-based FDA food safety investigator **Larry Stringer,** who describes the hardships his family is undergoing due to missed paychecks. The investigator says he and his wife are dipping into savings to continue to pay for services and supplies needed for their severely autistic teenage son. That money had been saved for their son’s future needs. They tell CBS that eventually, if their funds run out, their son would either have to go into a residential facility or become a ward of the state, “which just breaks our hearts.”
