CDER Approved 50 Novel Products Last Year

CDER approved 50 novel products in 2024, which was five (9%) less than the 55 products approved in 2023 and well above the 10-year rolling average of almost 46 approvals. Oncology approvals remained the top therapeutic category last year, with 15 (30%) novel approvals, according to the journal Nature. Dermatology and non-malignant hematology were tied for second, with six (12%) approvals apiece. The agency also signed off on five (10%) new cardiology agents, while neurology and infectious diseases posted lower approval numbers than in recent years, it says. Nature also includes a rundown of 10 notable CBER approvals last year.
