# CDER Director Keynote at Upcoming Sentinel Workshop

CDER director **Patrizia Cavazzoni** is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the 13th Annual Sentinel Initiative Virtual Public Workshop 11/8-9\. Co-hosted by the agency and the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy, the workshop will hear from the Sentinel community and leading experts about recent developments within the Sentinel Initiative, such as the system’s tools and data infrastructure, according to an [FDA notice](https://healthpolicy.duke.edu/events/thirteenth-annual-sentinel-initiative-public-workshop?ref=fdaweb.com). The workshop will also feature recent activities and applications of the Sentinel Initiative as part of the agency’s efforts to protect and promote public health during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Sentinel Initiative was launched in response to the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007\. It comprises several components including the Sentinel System, the Active Risk Identification and Analysis System, the Biologics Effectiveness and Safety Initiative, and FDA Catalyst.
