CDER Office of Pharmaceutical Quality Report

The CDER Office of Pharmaceutical Quality (OPQ) 2021 annual report says that in response to a White House call for strategies to improve medicine supply chain transparency and incentivize resilience, it is working on an emerging technology program, a framework for regulatory advanced manufacturing evaluation, and quality management maturity ratings. The annual report details progress in each of these areas as well as the OPQ core functions of inspection, assessment, surveillance, research, and policy.

“OPQ supports the assessment of every type of human drug application including INDs, NDAs, ANDAs, and BLAs, including those approved under the abbreviated pathway (biosimilars),” the report says. “Despite the ongoing Covid-19 public health emergency, OPQ supported FDA in meeting and even exceeding performance goals in 2021.”
