CDER Promotes Deputy Slack to Head Strategic Programs

CDER has promoted Office of Strategic Programs (OSP) deputy director Mary Ann Slack to permanent director. OSP oversees many of the Center’s strategic initiatives and modernization efforts, including development of benefit-risk and other decision support tools, data standardization, program analysis, business informatics, and user fee negotiations. Slack has been serving as acting OSP director since March; she was the deputy for eight years before that.

Slack joined FDA in 2003 as a program manager for large-scale CDER information technology initiatives. She served as director of the Office of Business Informatics from 2007 to 2010. She has a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Maryland.
