CDRH Committee to Discuss Health Equity

CDRH is announcing a 9/6 Patient Engagement Advisory Committee meeting to discuss and make recommendations on “Advancing Health Equity in Medical Devices.” Panel members are scheduled to discuss using technology, including digital health technology, to help bridge gaps in health equity by extending access and bringing healthcare to patients at home and work. The committee will also discuss how to improve “reach and comprehension of FDA’s patient and caregiver communications across diverse demographic groups,” according to a CDRH notice. Additionally, committee members will discuss patient-focused considerations for when a device should be evaluated in diverse populations to support a marketing authorization.
