Cell-based Therapies Institute Funded

A $15.7 million Marcus Foundation grant to the Georgia Institute of Technology is funding creation of the Marcus Center for Therapeutic Cell Characterization and Manufacturing to develop processes and techniques for the large-scale manufacture of living cells for use in cell-based therapies. An online GEN post says the center is expected to provide standardized production and quality testing of the living cells, similar to that already existing for drug-based pharmaceuticals. It will include a validation facility for good manufacturing processes in cell production.
