Chemence Medical’s Exofin Fusion Skin Closure Device Cleared

FDA has cleared a Chemence Medical 510(k) to market and sell Exofin Fusion, a new skin closure system for medium to large wounds. The device combines a self-adhering flexible mesh strip, mesh anchors and a 2-octyl cyanoacrylate topical adhesive to close and seal large incisions while forming an immediate microbial barrier to protect against infections, according to the company. The product is available in two sizes: one for medium incisions up to 20cm in length and the other for longer incisions up to 40cm in length. The device is intended for use in orthopedics for total hip and knee replacements, cardiovascular, plastic surgery, spinal procedures, and obstetrics for C-section closure.
