# Comments Extended for Device Servicing/Remanufacturing Paper

FDA has extended by 30 days the comment period for a 12/2018 [public workshop](http://www.aami.org/newsviews/newsdetail.aspx?ItemNumber=7298&ref=fdaweb.com) and a related white paper, [*Evaluating Whether Activities Are Servicing or Remanufacturing.*](https://www.fda.gov/downloads/MedicalDevices/NewsEvents/WorkshopsConferences/UCM623972.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) Comments, which now are being accepted until 2/25, will be used by FDA to inform future guidance on the topic.

The [white paper](https://www.fda.gov/downloads/MedicalDevices/NewsEvents/WorkshopsConferences/UCM623972.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) discussed guiding principles, a flowchart with accompanying text, a complementary approach for software, considerations for labeling, and examples. It details servicing and remanufacturing activities performed on medical devices by original equipment manufacturers and third parties. And it addresses activities performed on reusable devices that can be serviced, repaired, refurbished, maintained, and/or remanufactured.
