Companies Charged on Illegal Erectile Dysfunction Drugs

The Justice Department says four companies and three individuals have agreed to plead guilty to federal criminal charges related to illegally importing and selling $11 million worth of pharmaceutical-grade erectile dysfunction drugs falsely marketed as herbal remedies for men. A department news release also says two new cases were filed 2/7 against the distributors of the misbranded drugs.

The release says those charged illegally imported shipments of powder tadalafil, the active ingredient in Cialis, from suppliers in China and manufactured it into pills that were sold to distributors across the U.S.

Investigation of the cases involved the FDA Office of Criminal Investigation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, and IRS Criminal Investigation.
