# Compliance Extension Date on Unique Device IDs

FDA has posted an updated [final guidance](https://www.fda.gov/media/110564/download?ref=fdaweb.com) entitled “Unique Device Identification: Policy Regarding Compliance Dates for Class I and Unclassified Devices, Direct Marking, and Global Unique Device Identification Database (GUDID) Requirements for Certain Devices” that outlines a 75-day extension of the agency’s expected compliance date. The document notes that FDA does not intend to enforce the GUDID submission requirements for Class I and unclassified devices, other than implantable, life-supporting or life-sustaining devices, regardless of whether they are consumer health products, before 12/8.
