# Consent Decree Entered Against J and L Grocery

The Western District of Arkansas federal court has ordered J and L Grocery (Alma, AR) to stop distributing drug products, medical devices, cosmetics and food until the company complies with FDA requirements listed in a consent decree. “According to the amended complaint, J and L Grocery held FDA-regulated products under insanitary conditions in which they may have become contaminated with filth, including widespread insect, rodent and other live animal infestation, in violation of federal law,” an [agency release](https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/federal-judge-enters-consent-decree-against-arkansas-food-and-medical-product-grocery-warehouse?ref=fdaweb.com) says.

An FDA inspection last year documented “multiple live and dead rodents, rodent nesting, live racoons, live cats, a dead possum, animal feces and urine-stained products in and around the company’s seven warehouses and sheds used to store food, medical products and cosmetics,” the agency says. Previously, FDA issued two administrative detention orders against the store and U.S. marshals conducted a [mass seizure](https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-seizes-food-and-medical-products-held-under-insanitary-conditions-arkansas-grocery-warehouse?ref=fdaweb.com) of the company’s FDA-regulated products.
