Corium NDA for Transdermal Alzheimer’s Drug

FDA has accepted for review a Corium 505(b)(2) NDA for Adlarity (donepezil transdermal system), for treating Alzheimer’s-type dementia. The agency has set a 7/30 user fee review target action date. The company describes Adlarity as a once-weekly transdermal formulation of Pfizer’s Aricept that uses Corium’s proprietary Corplex technology platform, which “enables the development of new transdermal therapeutics incorporating small molecule drugs previously thought to have been incapable of delivery through the skin.” Corium says donepezil is the most widely prescribed medication for Alzheimer’s.
