# Counterfeit Batteries Leads to Infusion Pump Recall

ICU Medical has recalled (Class 1) its Plum Infusion Systems after receiving reports of allegedly counterfeit CSB Energy Technology batteries being used with the devices. “While these non-OEM batteries are visually similar to the Plum batteries supplied by ICU Medical, they are in fact not the same batteries and have not been tested or validated for use with Plum Infusion Systems,” a [recall notice](https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfRes/res.cfm?id=210686&ref=fdaweb.com) says. Preliminary reports suggest that suspect batteries fail to hold their charge and the pump may display messages to replace batteries earlier than expected.
