CVM Director Dunham Resigns for Academic Post

After seven years in the job, FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) director Bernadette Dunham announced 2/29 that she is leaving the agency in April to participate in a One Health collaborative effort between the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University and FDA. An online CVM statement said the Center’s deputy director, Tracey Forfa, a lawyer, will serve as acting director while a nationwide search is made for a permanent Center director.

Dunham joined FDA in 2002 from the American Veterinary Medical Association’s government relations where she had served for seven years after a career in academic veterinary medicine posts. CVM’s statement expressed gratitude for Dunham’s 13 years of FDA service and said this and her academic career “provide an outstanding foundation for her new path, focusing on developing future leaders in animal health and the One Health approach to public health.”
