CVM Goes After Unapproved Chloroquines

The Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) has sent Warning Letters to two companies it says are distributing unapproved chloroquine phosphate products. The letters went to Fishman Chemical of North Carolina, Vero Beach, FL, and Dr. G’s Marine Aquaculture, Pembroke Pines, FL.

In both instances, CVM says its review of the companies’ Web sites indicate that they are selling chloroquine phosphate products that are considered to be new animal drugs for which they have not received approval.

The companies were told to promptly correct the violations and to respond by e-mail within 48 hours telling the specific steps they have taken to correct the violations and prevent their recurrence, with documentation of each step and a timetable for completing the work.
